NZ beaches accessible for all… with

IT’S known as the Land of the Long White Cloud, but New Zealand is also very much the land of the big, beautiful beach.

With almost 15,000km of coastline, the North and South islands of NZ are blessed with some of the most spectacular and pristine beaches on the planet.

They range from the classic soft, pure white sands of Maitai Bay to the black beaches of famed big-wave spot Piha, the golden grains of iconic Cathedral Cove and many other lesser-known but no-less stunning pebble and shell-strewn stretches of rugged coast that make up the archipelago.

With the majority of NZ’s five million inhabitants living on the North Island, the coastal lifestyle is fully ingrained in the psyche of many Kiwis, and beach access is taken for granted.

But for those locals and visitors with disabilities and other mobility issues, getting to the beach has historically been a challenge.

Those challenges are now being overcome, as NZ rolls out beach chairs, all-terrain rollators, beach matting and disabled change facilities across the country to give everyone the opportunity to experience the simple pleasures of a day at the beach.

Funding for these critical community facilities is coming from various sources including local government, Surf Life Saving clubs, Rotary Clubs, and groups of individuals formed locally to campaign and source funding for their local beaches.

To cope with the varying and often difficult terrain of NZ’s beaches, many local authorities, clubs and community groups are opting for Wheeleez® beach wheelchairs and all-terrain rollators.

Wheeleez® Sandcruiser® and Sandpiper® models have proven themselves as some of the sturdiest, most durable, manoeuvrable, and reliable all-terrain wheelchairs in the world.

Able to traverse the softest sand and the rockiest ground with ease, Wheeleez® products have a long-standing reputation for excellence which makes them the beach wheelchair of choice across NZ and overseas.

Whangamata Surf Lifesaving club not only has the Sandcruiser® and Sandpiper® all-terrain chairs… they also have 2x Wheeleez® All-Terrain Rollators for public use!!

New Zealand has always boasted some of the world’s most beautiful beaches and now, as international travel reopens, they are also becoming accessible for all!

Exciting news!

The new Wheeleez® beach accessible chairs (Sandcruiser® and Sandpiper®) and two rollators (shown above) have recently arrived at Whangamata Surf Lifesaving Club. This is what happens when the local community come together and make things happen!
