On July 13, 2024, the vibrant shores of Cowell Beach in Santa Cruz, CA, came alive with joy and excitement as Shared Adventures hosted its annual Day On The Beach event. This cherished tradition, now a cornerstone of Santa Cruz’s community calendar, has been making waves in the disability community since its inception.

Shared Adventures, founded by Foster Andersen, aims to provide life-changing experiences for people with disabilities. Andersen’s vision of inclusivity and accessibility has driven the organization to create opportunities for individuals to participate in outdoor and recreational activities that might otherwise be inaccessible. Day On The Beach, one of Shared Adventures’ flagship events, embodies this mission by transforming the beach into a welcoming playground for all.

Over the years, Day On The Beach has grown exponentially. From its humble beginnings, it now draws hundreds of attendees annually. In recent years, attendance figures have soared, with more than 1,000 participants and volunteers coming together to share the joy and freedom of beach activities.

The 2024 event was particularly special, as Wheeleez, Inc. joined Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks/ThatsMyPark.org in providing the acclaimed line of Wheeleez™ All-Terrain/Beach Wheelchairs and walkers for free use by registered attendees.
